Saint Lucia is making a stronger push for the Canadian market, targeting increased air connectivity, visitor arrivals, trade partnerships and investment opportunities through a series of high-level engagements this week.
The effort forms part of the ongoing Saint Lucia Trade Sales Mission in Canada, where the Saint Lucian delegation is meeting with airlines, travel partners, members of the diaspora, media and other industry stakeholders.
As part of the mission, the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) and Invest Saint Lucia hosted members of the Canadian travel trade media at a special luncheon focused on the island’s tourism product, new developments and investment opportunities.
The engagement also gave officials an opportunity to hear directly from Canadian media partners about changing travel trends and consumer preferences in one of Saint Lucia’s key source markets.
Discussions throughout the mission are focused on improving air links between Canada and Saint Lucia, developing co-operative marketing opportunities and expanding tourism and trade partnerships.
The push comes as Canadian visitor arrivals to Saint Lucia continue to show strong growth, creating an opportunity for the destination to convert that momentum into increased travel demand.
Travel trade media are considered an important part of that strategy because of their role in keeping destinations visible and influencing where Canadian travellers choose to vacation.
With Invest Saint Lucia participating in the mission, officials are also using the opportunity to position the island for investment, highlighting developments and potential opportunities beyond the traditional tourism sales pitch.
The wider objective is to turn the relationships established during the Canadian mission into measurable results, more connectivity, stronger commercial partnerships, increased investment interest and ultimately more visitors to Saint Lucia.
