In a climate where public safety remains a national priority, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is receiving tangible backing from the private sector, with new support aimed directly at strengthening frontline crime-fighting efforts.
The Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit has been equipped with a colour printer through a joint initiative between Promotech Incorporated and Amalgamated Security Services Ltd., a contribution expected to improve the unit’s operational efficiency and intelligence management.
Head of the unit, Assistant Superintendent Shervon Matthieu, described the donation as both timely and impactful, noting that even modest resources can significantly enhance the effectiveness of police work.
“This initiative has been very well received. It reflects strong corporate partnership in support of national security,” Matthieu said. “While it may seem simple, tools like these are essential for intelligence sharing, report preparation and evidential documentation.”
The addition of the equipment is expected to streamline internal processes, particularly in managing sensitive case files and producing critical documentation used in investigations and prosecutions.
General Manager of Amalgamated Security Services Ltd., Andrew Callender, underscored the importance of supporting law enforcement, especially units operating under high pressure.
“We are always in support of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force,” Callender said. “As a former law enforcement officer, I understand how critical these resources are and the pressures officers face daily.”
He also pointed to Matthieu’s recognition as a Caribbean Top Crime Fighter in 2023, highlighting the unit’s continued role in confronting serious and organized crime across the island.
Country Manager of Promotech Incorporated, Annill Daniel, said the contribution reflects both appreciation and ongoing collaboration with the police.
“We know the risks officers take every day to keep the public safe,” Daniel said. “This is a small token of appreciation for their continued commitment.”
In addition to the printer, officers attached to the unit will also benefit from discount vouchers as part of the initiative.
The donation signals a growing trend of private sector involvement in national security, as stakeholders increasingly recognize that effective crime fighting requires a collective effort—combining public resources with corporate support to deliver safer communities
