Police have launched an investigation into a fatal shooting in Conway, Castries, which claimed the life of a 29-year-old man on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department responded to a shooting incident at approximately 6:55 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds about the body. Emergency personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service provided initial medical assistance before transporting the individual via ambulance to the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU).
Despite efforts to save him, the victim was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner. He has since been identified as Michael Zacchaeus Charlery, 29, of Conway.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting are ongoing, and a post mortem examination has been scheduled.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist with the investigation to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 456-3754.
