Castries, Saint Lucia – April 2, 2025

The streets of Castries were alive with discipline and determination early this morning as members of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Special Services Unit (SSU) took to the roads for their first official route march of the year.

Led by Inspector Lucius Small, Commanding Officer of the SSU, the march aimed to assess and showcase the physical readiness of officers in the elite unit. The event also included participants from the Gang, Narcotics, and Firearm Unit, who were invited to join the morning exercise.

“We’re testing the level of fitness within the unit,” said Inspector Small. “It’s about more than just endurance—it’s about mental strength, teamwork, and preparing our officers for the demands of the job.”

The turnout was strong, and the energy high as the units made their way through various streets in Castries. According to Inspector Small, the route march helps foster camaraderie among officers while reinforcing the discipline and unity that define the SSU.

“This morning was a success. The men and women showed that they are mentally tough and physically ready,” he added. “It’s important that the public sees who we are and what we stand for.”

The SSU plans to continue such initiatives throughout the year as part of its ongoing commitment to operational excellence and community reassurance.
