The St. Lucia Boxing Association (SLBA) has welcomed a generous donation of boxing equipment aimed at supporting the continued development of boxing, particularly at the schools level.
The donation was financed by former Assistant National Coach and longtime boxing enthusiast John Pompey, demonstrating his continued commitment to the growth and development of the sport in Saint Lucia.
On Tuesday, September 15, Pompey’s daughter, Serieana Pompey, formally presented the equipment to National Head Coach Conrad Fredericks at the National Boxing Gym in Vigie, Castries.
The donation included boxing gloves, hand wraps and training pads, all of which will be put to use in the Association’s ongoing training and development programmes.
National Head Coach Conrad Fredericks expressed his appreciation to John Pompey and his family for the contribution.
“We are extremely grateful for this generous donation from John Pompey and his family. Equipment such as this is very important to the continued development of our programme, particularly as we expand our work in schools and encourage more young people to become involved in boxing”.
Fredericks noted that access to quality training equipment is essential in creating a positive and effective environment for young athletes to learn the fundamentals of boxing and develop their skills.
The St. Lucia Boxing Association extends its sincere appreciation to John Pompey and the Pompey family for their contribution and continued support of boxing in Saint Lucia.
