Residents and motorists in Anse La Raye will soon experience some relief as O.B. Sadoo Engineering Services Limited announces the opening of a temporary bypass bridge on Monday, March 31, 2025. The development comes as part of a major infrastructure upgrade in the west coast community.
The newly constructed bypass bridge will serve as the only access point for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic as demolition work begins on the aging Anse La Raye Bridge. The temporary structure has been specifically designed to accommodate both heavy-duty vehicles and foot traffic, ensuring continuous access through the area during the construction phase.

Once the bypass is operational, work will begin on a modern, two-lane reinforced concrete girder bridge, set to replace the current structure.
To manage traffic flow and reduce disruption, traffic control personnel will be stationed at both ends of the bridge. Additional signage will also be installed to help guide road users safely through the detour.
While acknowledging the temporary inconvenience that may arise, the engineering firm’s Communications, Health & Safety Officer, Justin-Anne Aurelien, appealed to the public for patience and cooperation. “We are committed to minimizing inconvenience and ensuring the safety of all road users,” Aurelien said. “Your understanding is appreciated as we work to improve the infrastructure of our country.”
The bridge upgrade forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and connectivity across the island.
