Three separate road emergencies within hours kept the Saint Lucia Fire Service on the move over the weekend, leaving multiple people injured, including two pedestrians struck in separate incidents—one of them in an alleged hit-and-run.
The most recent incident occurred in Rodney Bay at approximately 7:14 p.m. on Sunday, when emergency personnel responded to reports of a collision involving a minivan and a pedestrian. Firefighters arrived to find an adult female lying on the ground. She sustained abrasions to her left lower extremity and was treated at the scene before being transported to a medical facility for further care.
Earlier that morning, at approximately 4:22 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to La Caye, Dennery, after a motor car left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole. An adult male was found lying near the damaged vehicle, with the airbags deployed. He sustained facial trauma and multiple abrasions before receiving emergency treatment and being transported to hospital for advanced medical care.
On the night of August 1, firefighters also responded to a reported hit-and-run involving a truck and a pedestrian at Good Lands, Castries, at approximately 10:20 p.m. Emergency personnel found an adult male lying along the roadside. Bystanders reported that the victim had been struck by a truck whose driver allegedly failed to stop after the collision.
The injured man sustained facial trauma and lacerations to the face. He was treated by emergency personnel before being transported to a medical facility for further treatment.
