Police have identified the victim of Monday’s fatal shooting in La Clery as 27-year-old Cresean Biscombe, a security guard who was on duty at the time of the incident.
Biscombe was shot during an alleged armed robbery at Falcon Supermarket, formerly known as Windtrades. The incident occurred shortly after noon, prompting police to cordon off the surrounding area as investigations commenced.
According to an eyewitness who spoke with Saint Lucia Daily Post on condition of anonymity, at least two gunshots were heard before four men fled the scene in two separate directions.
Another woman who works in the area said she had just returned from Castries and parked in the shared lot between the supermarket and the community centre when the shooting occurred. “This is of serious concern not just to me, but to residents and people who work and commute in La Clery,” she said.
She noted that while the area had previously experienced criminal activity, including robberies, there had been a period of relative calm in recent months. “They used to have robberies in the place, but none were like this where somebody was killed,” she added.
A resident who knew Biscombe described him as “a kind and very gentle individual,” expressing hope that those responsible would be brought to justice.
No arrests have been reported, and further details have not yet been released.
