Zoom Outage Disrupts Global Communication

Must Read

Zoom Video Communications suffered a widespread outage on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, crippling access to meetings, webinars, and its website for thousands of users across the globe. According to outage-tracking platform Downdetector, over 65,000 incident reports were filed at the peak of the disruption, beginning shortly after 3:00 PM Eastern Time.

Users attempting to join meetings were met with error messages such as “Unable to connect” or received a “502 Bad Gateway” response when accessing the Zoom website. The issue appeared to stem from a domain name system (DNS) resolution problem, with Zoom confirming on its official status page that they were investigating disruptions affecting their core services.

Tech news outlets including The Verge and Reuters reported that the outage affected users across North America, Europe, and parts of the Caribbean. In a statement to Reuters, Zoom confirmed the issue and said its teams were working to restore service, although no clear timeline was given.
