As part of the 2026 Summer Enrichment Programme, the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports (MYDS), in collaboration with the Choiseul Secondary School (CSS), with support from the Choiseul Youth & Sports Council hosted a dynamic five-day Youth Development Camp under the theme: Unlock your potential power -up your skills. This initiative was aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become effective leaders, responsible digital citizens, and active contributors within their school and community.
The programme commenced with a Facilitators’ Orientation and Training on June 18, during which Youth Development Officers and teachers from Choiseul Secondary School worked together to prepare for the successful delivery of the camp, ensuring a safe, engaging, and impactful learning experience for all participants.
Participants engaged in interactive workshops and practical learning experiences covering ICT in Everyday Life, Responsible Social Media Use, Cyber Safety, Leadership and Team Building, Student Council Development, Project Management, Communication Skills, Code of Conduct, and Digital Content Creation. These sessions were complemented by leadership challenges, team-building activities, and collaborative exercises designed to strengthen communication, critical thinking, decision-making, and teamwork.
A major highlight of the programme was the planning and execution of a Summer Fair, where participants worked in committees to organise and host the event, applying the ICT, leadership and project management skills they had developed throughout the camp. Participants also took part in a Content Creation Day, producing digital content that promoted positive messages while enhancing their creativity and digital literacy.
The programme concluded with a reflection day and a Cook-Off Challenge, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their leadership, creativity, collaboration, and organisational skills in a fun and practical environment. The program successfully fostered personal growth, teamwork, civic responsibility, and digital competence while creating memorable learning experiences for all participants.
