With some Public Assistance Programme (PAP) beneficiaries still waiting for payments to resume, Minister Hippolyte is urging cooperation with a recertification exercise she says will help strengthen support for vulnerable households.
Hippolyte appealed to current beneficiaries and eligible people awaiting enrolment to work with field officers, stressing that accurate information is essential to the programme’s future effectiveness.
The Government has allocated EC$13.8 million to PAP for the 2026/2027 financial year. The programme provides cash transfers and access to additional assistance, including specified medical, educational and burial support.
The Minister said the recertification exercise aims to establish a dependable beneficiary database to guide policy decisions, improve social protection and build greater resilience among vulnerable households.
For people who depend on that assistance, however, the exercise’s impact will ultimately be measured by how reliably and promptly support reaches them.
While the Ministry has outlined its broader goals, the information provided does not specify when payments will be restored to beneficiaries still awaiting them.
