The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Gros Islet Divisional Headquarters is turning to football to strengthen community ties, with four youth teams set to battle for glory in the Gros Islet Police U13 Mini World Cup on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
The one-day tournament will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Corinth Playing Field and forms part of the Division’s ongoing community policing programme aimed at fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
More than just a football competition, the initiative is designed to provide young people with a positive outlet while promoting values such as teamwork, discipline, respect and leadership. Police say the event reflects the shared responsibility of nurturing safer, stronger communities through meaningful youth engagement.
Four teams, Monchy FC, Northern United, Babonneau Youth and GMC United, will compete for top honours in what is expected to be an exciting showcase of emerging football talent.
Organisers hope the tournament will not only inspire healthy competition on the field but also strengthen trust and cooperation between the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force and the island’s youth through the unifying power of sport.
