A Vieux Fort man has been arrested and formally charged with murder in connection with a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a 31-year-old earlier this month.
Police say Terry Moffat of Pierrot was taken into custody on Monday, April 6, 2026, shortly after officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the community. He was officially charged with the offence of murder on Friday, April 10, following investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department.
Moffat was subsequently escorted to the Second District Court, where he was remanded into custody at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
The charge stems from an incident reported around 6:10 a.m. on April 6 in Pierrot, Vieux Fort, where police responded to a stabbing. The victim, identified as 31-year-old Jason Francis of Vigie, Vieux Fort, sustained a stab wound and was transported by ambulance to St. Jude Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
