The St. Lucia Athletics Association (SLAA) has officially unveiled Team Saint Lucia for the 2026 CARIFTA Games, with a blend of emerging talent and proven performers set to represent the island from April 4 to 6 in St. George’s, Grenada.
The national team features a strong mix of athletes across the Under-17 and Under-20 categories, reflecting what officials describe as a merit-based selection process aimed at maximizing Saint Lucia’s competitiveness on the regional stage.

In the Under-17 Boys division, Randall Monroe of the Saint Lucia Sports Academy will compete in the high jump and long jump, while Eavan Edgar of the Abilene Wildcats Athletics Club is set to contest the shot put and discus events. On the girls’ side, Destinee Cenac of Morne Stars Athletics Club will take part in the high jump, with Barbara Marie Maximin of Abilene Wildcats Athletics competing in the long jump.
The Under-20 Boys team is headlined by a versatile group of athletes, including Denzel Phillips (shot put and discus), Ryan Simeon (100m and 200m), Joaqwan Alexander (400m), Evann John (800m), Benique Mann (1500m), and Darvin Forde (triple jump). In the Under-20 Girls category, Syesha Rogers will compete in the long jump, while Naya Jules is set to participate in both the pole vault and javelin.
Team management will be led by Team Manager Cornelius Breen, supported by Head Coach Len Leonce and Assistant Coach Michele Rogers, with Kenvin Mc Phee serving as Safeguarding Official.
According to the SLAA, athlete selection was guided by current form, fitness levels, injury status, and overall readiness to compete, as well as conduct on and off the track. The Association emphasized that this structured approach ensures fairness, transparency, and alignment with CARIFTA standards, while upholding the professionalism expected of national representatives.
The Association expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver strong performances, noting that the squad embodies both performance excellence and promising youth development.
With regional competition expected to be intense, Saint Lucia’s athletes will be aiming not only to perform admirably but also to secure podium finishes and elevate the country’s standing in Caribbean athletics.
The SLAA is calling on Saint Lucians at home and abroad to rally behind the team as they prepare to carry the national flag with pride, resilience, and determination on one of the region’s biggest junior athletics stages.
