‘No More Details’ Pierre Says Saint Lucia Left Without Answers After U.S. Drone Strike

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre says Saint Lucia received no new information from the United States regarding recent maritime security operations in regional waters, despite bilateral talks held during the 50th CARICOM Heads of Government meeting.

Pierre confirmed that discussions with U.S. officials centered on regional security, economic growth, democracy and climate resilience.

He said the United States remains firmly focused on drug interdiction efforts across Caribbean waters.

“What the Americans are firm on is that they are very, very firm on not allowing drugs, when they perceive it, to come through our waters,” Pierre stated.

However, he acknowledged that no additional details were provided regarding reported operations involving vessels near Saint Vincent and Saint Lucia which was destroyed by U.S authorities in a drone strike.

On February 13, the US State Department announced on social media that it had targeted a vessel in the Caribbean, killing three people. The post indicated that the vessel was suspected of being involved in drug smuggling operations.

“As for any more details, they gave no more details,” he added.

Locally, the Prime Minister confirmed that Saint Lucia Police are investigating a missing persons report involving three fishermen. He stressed that he had no further intelligence beyond what law enforcement has publicly indicated.

The Prime Minister’s comments come amid heightened regional sensitivity surrounding maritime security and foreign interdiction operations.

Pierre emphasized that U.S. actions are intelligence-driven but reiterated that no specific operational details were shared during discussions.

While CARICOM leaders addressed broader geopolitical tensions and regional cooperation, Pierre made clear that certain security matters remain outside public disclosure.
