The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has identified the victim of Wednesday’s fatal vehicular collision along the Vieux Fort–Laborie Highway as five-year-old Kervil Lawrence of Piaye, Choiseul.
Road Safety and Traffic Investigations officers attached to the Vieux Fort Police Station are probing the circumstances surrounding the collision, which occurred at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22.
According to police, the incident involved a black motor vehicle that sustained extensive damage. Four occupants were inside the vehicle when the crash occurred.
Emergency responders from the Saint Lucia Fire Service arrived at the scene and transported all four occupants to St. Jude Hospital for medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, five-year-old Kervil Lawrence later succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.
Investigators have not yet disclosed what may have led to the crash, and inquiries remain ongoing as officers seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has indicated that further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
