What began as a desperate fight for survival has ended in tragedy. Thirty-seven-year-old Chris Lionel of Tou Rouge, Marchand, who was gunned down alongside Kwame George in a brazen July 20 shooting, has died after spending more than three weeks in hospital.
Police confirmed Lionel’s death on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU), marking the second fatality from the July 20 attack along Marchand Road. The first victim, shop owner and Marchand resident Kwame George, 45, died on the day of the incident after being shot in the head.
According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), the shooting occurred around 7:55 a.m. when an armed assailant approached George outside his establishment and opened fire. Lionel, who was inside the shop making a purchase, was also struck during the attack.
The RSLPF has upgraded the case to a double homicide and is appealing for public assistance in tracking down those responsible.
