Island Time Attack met with students at the Babonneau Secondary School at 10am Tuesday 25th February 2025. Island Time Attack, a motorsports group, brought the values of discipline and perseverance to the students. The objective of the visit was to speak to them about steering clear of gangs and delinquent behaviour.

Karlil Haynes of Island Time Attack explained the significance of this visit, especially in light of increasing levels of violence and crime among youth. “The main reason behind the school visit was to meet with some troubled boys. Everyone was pretty excited,” Haynes explained.

Part of the visit included speeches delivered by members of the Island Time Attack Motorsports Club. Club members shared their experiences, lessons learnt and mistakes made with the students as a means of discouraging them from participating in a life of crime. Male students in particular were the focus as most juvenile offenders are young men.

“A few of our members gave speeches about their lives and experiences. They spoke with the guys about ways they could stay out of trouble, things they could do to be productive,” Haynes said.

The visit, she said, was received well and students in turn had numerous questions for the club. “They had a trillion questions about our cars.”
Youth engagement is a crucial part of crime prevention because it can help build resilience, reduce delinquency, and promote positive behaviour in juveniles.
