Saint Lucian hospitality professional Layvern Daniel, originally from Monchy, Gros Islet, has been appointed hotel manager of The Retreat Turks & Caicos ahead of the locally developed boutique hotel’s scheduled opening in October 2026.
Daniel brings more than 12 years of luxury hospitality experience across the Caribbean, with expertise spanning resort operations, guest relations, housekeeping, concierge services, sales, reservations and operational strategy. Her cross functional background positions her to oversee every aspect of the guest experience while maintaining the operational and commercial discipline required to launch a successful new hotel.
Throughout her career, Daniel has developed a keen understanding of the expectations of discerning luxury travellers, including attentive service, thoughtful personalisation, responsive communication and consistency at every touchpoint. Her experience managing pre-arrival communications, concierge services, VIP requests and service recovery will assist The Retreat in delivering seamless stays and fostering lasting relationships with guests, industry partners and vendors.
Daniel also brings significant commercial expertise, having led reservations and operational functions while collaborating closely with marketing teams and property owners on management and brand optimisation. Her established relationships with travel advisers, tour operators and other industry partners are expected to support The Retreat’s market positioning and introduce the property to local, regional and international travellers.
Her familiarity with leading luxury travel networks and programmes, including Small Luxury Hotels of the World, has also provided her with valuable insight into the service expectations and commercial standards of the global luxury travel market.
Daniel’s leadership credentials include being named Manager of the Year in 2025 and being selected to participate in the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Young Leaders Forum for 2025–2026. She has also held progressively senior operational roles involving staff training, interdepartmental coordination, quality assurance and guest satisfaction.
In her new role, Daniel will guide The Retreat through its opening phase, establish its operational and service standards, develop a high-performing team and cultivate a culture centred on genuine Caribbean hospitality. Her knowledge of the Turks and Caicos market, combined with her extensive operational and commercial experience, is expected to help the hotel deliver memorable guest experiences while establishing a strong foundation for sustainable growth.
Daniel holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Management of Tourism and a bachelor’s degree from Monroe University. She is proficient in English, Spanish and Saint Lucian Creole.
