Operations at the popular Indian restaurant Spice of India were disrupted on Friday after a fire broke out at the establishment, prompting a response from emergency personnel.
Initial reports indicate that the blaze originated in the restaurant’s kitchen to which firefighters were able to contain the fire, preventing it from causing more extensive damage.
Gros Islet Fire Station received a call for assistance shortly after 11:00 am, triggering a response.
At the time of publication, firefighters remained on the scene conducting operations and ensuring the area was safe.
Staff members, customers and concerned members of the public gathered outside the establishment as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
The full extent of the damage has not yet been determined, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No injuries had been reported up to the time of publication.
