Castries, Saint Lucia – July 7, 2025
A man is dead and another nursing gunshot wounds following a brazen early-morning shooting in Marchand on Saturday, as Saint Lucia continues to reel from a recent surge in deadly violence.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service responded to the trauma incident around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 5th. Emergency personnel arrived to find one adult male in the presence of police officers. The man reported he had been shot twice. An assessment revealed he had sustained two gunshot wounds to his left arm. He was treated on the scene before being transported to a medical facility for advanced care.
But it was a far grimmer outcome for the second victim. Emergency responders found another adult male lying in a prone position, unresponsive. He showed no signs of life and had sustained a penetrating wound to the eye. He was pronounced dead on the scene, which was handed over to officers of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force for further investigation.
This latest killing adds to a disturbing wave of gun violence that has rocked the Monchy, Dennery, Wilton’s Yard, Arundell Hill, and now Marchand communities in the past two weeks.
