Emergency services responded to two major incidents this week, including a shooting in Monchy and a house fire in Babonneau.

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the Saint Lucia Fire Service was called to Des Rameaux, Monchy, at approximately 9:45 p.m. following reports of a suspected shooting. Upon arrival, responders found an adult male in the care of police officers. A medical assessment revealed the man had sustained multiple penetrating wounds about the body.
He was treated at the scene and subsequently transported to a medical facility for further care. His current condition has not been disclosed. Authorities have not yet confirmed the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, firefighters responded to a structural fireat Paix Bouche, Babonneau at 1:44 p.m. On arrival, a single-family dwelling made of concrete and wood was found engulfed in flames.
Emergency personnel successfully contained and extinguished the blaze, but the wooden portion of the structure was completely destroyed. There were no occupants in the home at the time of the fire. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
Officials from the Fire Service continue to urge the public to report suspicious activity and take precautionary fire safety measures, particularly during the dry season.
