Two Remanded on Murder Charge After Jacmel Shooting Victim Dies

Must Read

Two Jacmel men have been remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility after being charged with the murder of 47-year-old Julius Charles, who died weeks after he was shot.

Kurtney Eunude and Zidane James appeared before the First District Court on Monday, September 14, for bail purposes and were subsequently remanded, according to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.

The murder charges stem from a June 23 shooting in Jacmel, Anse La Raye. Police said officers attached to the Anse La Raye Police Station found Charles along the Jacmel Road with apparent gunshot wounds about his body. He was transported by ambulance to the Owen King European Hospital for treatment.

Eunude and James, both of Jacmel, were initially arrested and charged with attempted murder as investigators pursued the case.

The case took a more serious turn when Charles succumbed to his injuries on August 8. Following his death, police said the investigation led to both men being arrested and charged with murder.

Police have thanked members of the public who assisted investigators during the probe.
