As Saint Lucia continues to strengthen its position as a premier tourism destination, the Selene Autograph Marriott Hotel Project is advancing with a clear focus on community partnership, responsible development, and meaningful economic contribution.
Located inland near the George F. L. Charles Airport on lands historically used for hotel development, the project is being carefully positioned to complement the surrounding area while contributing to the island’s evolving tourism landscape.
Recognising tourism as a cornerstone of the national economy, the development represents a strategic addition to the island’s hospitality offering. Beyond enhancing the destination’s appeal, the project is expected to generate tangible economic benefits, including employment opportunities during both construction and operations, increased demand for local goods and services, and expanded avenues for small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in the tourism value chain.
As part of its initial groundwork, the development team has engaged residents of Vigie through a town hall-style meeting, where concerns and perspectives were openly shared. That feedback continues to inform the project as it evolves, reflecting an ongoing effort to ensure that the development is responsive to the surrounding environment.
Positioned as a signature hotel experience, Selene is being developed within approved planning guidelines, with careful consideration given to neighbouring properties, the surrounding environment, and the overall character of the area. The planning and engineering approach places emphasis on sustainability, responsible coastal development, and integration with the existing landscape.
In addition to its design considerations, the project is expected to support increased visitor spend by attracting high-value travellers aligned with the Marriott Autograph Collection brand. This, in turn, is anticipated to contribute to foreign exchange earnings and broader economic activity, reinforcing tourism’s role as a driver of national growth.
