Two Charged in Conway Homicide as Police Intensify Investigations

Two men have been formally charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Conway, Castries, which claimed the life of 29-year-old Michael Zacchaeus Charlery.


According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department initially responded to reports of a shooting around 6:55 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Charlery sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported by the Saint Lucia Fire Service to the Owen King European Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.


In an update, the Major Crimes Unit confirmed the arrest and charging of two individuals following ongoing investigations into the incident.


Thirty-five-year-old Bertin Eugene was arrested and formally charged with murder and attempted murder on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Additionally, twenty-one-year-old Jeanclaude Regobert was arrested and formally charged with the same offences on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.


Both men were taken before the First District Court for bail proceedings and have since been remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.


The police have reiterated their appeal to the public for assistance as investigations continue.
