Castries Saint Lucia – January 19, 2025. The Soufriere Mini Stadium was a hive of activity this past Saturday January 18, 2025 when the St. Lucia Athletics Association hosted its Sprints Festival, the second Developmental Meet for 2025. With over 200 registered athletes, the event served as a platform for seasoned competitors and rising stars to shine.
The meet featured a variety of sprint and short-distance events and according to the association, athletes delivered solid performances across the board. Highlights included standout displays from experienced athletes, as well as promising results from emerging talent.

A special mention must be made of 8 year old Elana Norbert and 9 year old Shakiah George of Nightriders, who participated in the Girls 80m Dash Age Group, 7 year old K’ Naan Eugene of Sprint Tech and Deandre Felicien as well as Hezekiah Eugene both 9 years old of Cheetahs who participated in the Boys 80m Dash Age Group.
Newly elected President of the SLAA Dora Henry said, “The Association remains committed to providing these developmental opportunities to enhance local athletic performance and foster national pride.”
Meet #3 dubbed “Throws & Jumps Festival” is slated for 1st February 2025 to be followed by the Laureates’ Challenge 5K on February 2, 2025.
