A joint operation involving the Guns, Narcotics and Firearms Unit and the Customs and Excise Department at the Vieux Fort Seaport resulted in the seizure of a consignment of illegal drugs.
A substantial amount of cannabis resin was recovered. Stewart Emmanuel, a stevedore employed at the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority, was arrested, cautioned, and taken into custody.
Subsequent investigations led to the identification of two other individuals, both of whom were arrested in connection with the matter.
Emmanuel has since been formally charged with importation, possession, and intent to supply controlled drugs, and has been remanded into custody.
Investigations remain ongoing in relation to the other suspects.
