Fishing Vessel Fire Contained at Vigie Beach; Investigation Ongoing

The Saint Lucia Fire Service responded to a reported vessel fire at Vigie on Monday, March 16, 2026, successfully preventing further damage after a fishing boat caught fire along the shoreline.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at approximately 2:06 p.m. following reports of a blaze involving a fishing vessel. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 1986 Butram fishing boat beached with smoke emanating from its engine compartment.

Firefighters acted swiftly to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.

The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation. The scene has since been handed over to officers of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force for further inquiries.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
