A 24-year-old man is listed in critical condition following a shooting incident in Castries on Monday night.
According to a relative who spoke on condition of anonymity, the victim sustained multiple gunshot injuries to various parts of his body. The relative described the incident as deeply distressing for the family as they await further updates on his condition.
Reports from the Saint Lucia Fire Service indicate that at approximately 10:18 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, emergency personnel responded to a report of an alleged gunshot wound incident along Jn. Baptiste Street, Castries.
On arrival at the scene, responders found an adult male lying in a supine position at the roadside. An initial assessment revealed penetrating wounds to the lower abdominal quadrant and the lower extremities. The victim was administered emergency care on site before being transported to a medical facility for advanced treatment.
Police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No further details have been released, and authorities are urging anyone with information that may assist the investigation to come forward.
