The Soufriere Super League (SSL)—a community-centered inter-hotel charity football tournament—held its official Cheque Presentation Ceremonyon, November 28, 2025, at the Soufrière Hospital, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the Soufrière community through unity, collaboration, and meaningful action.

This year’s tournament saw the participation of teams from Sugar Beach A Viceroy Resort, Anse Chastanet/Jade Mountain, Hotel Chocolat, Ladera Resort, and newly added Stonefield Resort, the Soufrière Foundation, Coconut Bay, and the Soufriere Veterans, with support of members of the Soufriere Stadium Management Committee.

Their collective effort raised crucial funds to support two major beneficiaries:
1. The Soufriere Hospital Triage Renovation Project, and
2. Mr. Jerell Paul, a young Soufrière resident requiring urgent heart surgery.
Speaking on behalf of the League, James Holah, COO of Hotel Chocolat and SSL Representative, emphasized the power of unity: “The Soufriere Super League demonstrates the power of unity. When our hotels come together, we create positive changes that reach far beyond the pitch. This donation reflects our shared commitment to the health, wellbeing, and future of Soufrière. We are proud to stand with our partners in support of our community.”
The donation was warmly received by the Soufriere Hospital team. Mrs. Alicia Alexander, Principal Nursing Officer, highlighted the significance of the support: “This contribution is deeply appreciated. Renovating our triage area will significantly enhance the care we provide during emergencies. The support shown by the Soufriere Super League and its partners is a testament to their dedication to this community’s welfare. On behalf of the hospital, thank you for helping us improve the services our people depend on.”
The Soufriere Super League also acknowledged the generous backing of key sponsors and supporters whose contributions played a vital role in this year’s success. Special thanks go to:
• Orlando’s Restaurant
• BarBay Limited
• Optimum Events
• Epic Prints
• TLC Events
• Soufrière FM
Their combined financial and logistical support made it possible to deliver another impactful year of community assistance.
Established with the vision of fostering cooperation among Soufriere’s leading tourism partners, the SSL continues to make meaningful contributions to the district. Last year, the League raised over EC$10,000 to assist the Soufrière Fishermen’s Cooperative after the devastation of Hurricane Beryl. This year’s initiative builds on that foundation, demonstrating the League’s commitment to ensuring Soufriere’s people and institutions thrive.
