Police in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) are investigating the discovery of a Saint Lucian man’s body in a shallow grave at Lowmans Mountain on Sunday morning, November 9, 2025.
According to police reports, officers were summoned to the area around 9:00 a.m., where they discovered the man’s body wrapped in a tarpaulin and buried in a freshly dug hole near a makeshift shanty. Preliminary investigations suggest that the site had been prepared for use as a pit latrine.
Although the identity of the deceased has not yet been officially released, sources indicate that he was known in the area by the name “Luche.” Reports suggest that he had been living in SVG for several months and was involved in marijuana cultivation in the mountainous region. Residents described him as sociable and said he frequently interacted with women in the community.
One farmer recounted hearing an argument between the Saint Lucian man and a Vincentian farmer on the day before the grim discovery. Police also recovered blood-stained clothing near the site and found evidence of a struggle.
Another resident told reporters that the dispute may have been related to a woman. “It sounded like it was over a female,” the farmer said, adding that tensions between the two men had been noticeable in recent days.
Authorities have not confirmed the cause of death, but preliminary information suggests that the victim may have been beaten.
This incident marks the 35th homicide recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for 2025.
