A mother of two is dead following a brutal shooting in Bexon on Wednesday evening that has left residents shaken and police searching for answers.
The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Finola Mc Lauren, a resident of the Morne, Castries. According to reports, Mc Lauren had travelled to Marc, Bexon, to drop off a relative when she came under heavy gunfire from two unidentified assailants.
Eyewitnesses say the attack occurred as Mc Lauren exited the community and was driving her white Suzuki Ciaz. The gunmen reportedly opened fire, riddling the vehicle with bullets before fleeing the scene.
Sources allege that investigators recovered over 50 spent shells from the area, indicating the level of violence unleashed during the incident.
Emergency responders were called to the scene, but Mc Lauren succumbed to her injuries before she could receive medical attention.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made and a motive has not yet been established.
Just a few days ago, a 23-year-old man was gunned down in Crownlands, Bexon, just a stone’s throw away from where Finola Mc Lauren was killed.
Residents of the community have expressed fear and concern following the brazen daylight attack, which marks yet another act of gun violence in the island’s ongoing struggle against violent crime.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward as investigations continue.
Mc Lauren leaves behind a 9 year old son and an 18 year old daughter.
