As National Construction Appreciation Week is celebrated across the United States, Suburban Consulting Engineers, Inc. (SCE) has shone the spotlight on one of its standout team members: Timothy James, Senior Construction Observer.
James, who previously served as Senior Technician Supervisor in the Water Services Department at the Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) in Saint Lucia, has built a distinguished career spanning over 35 years. Known for his problem-solving ability and commitment to quality, he has successfully managed projects that address critical community needs, from long-standing water issues to major roadway upgrades.
At SCE, James is recognized for his meticulous approach to ensuring quality and safety standards on-site. He emphasizes strict adherence to project requirements, industry specifications, and OSHA compliance, which he says is key to protecting workers and the public. “It’s about minimizing hazards and preventing injuries while maintaining positive working relationships,” James explained.
In an employee spotlight released this week, James reflected on the rewards of his role, noting that while challenges often arise—especially when guiding contractors to meet exacting standards—the satisfaction of delivering safe, effective, and lasting infrastructure solutions makes the effort worthwhile.
His career path, which began in the construction industry in 1989 and later continued with water infrastructure improvements in Saint Lucia, continues to inspire. He recalls the gratitude of communities when long-standing water shortages were resolved, describing it as one of his most rewarding career moments. Today, he continues to bring that same dedication to projects in the U.S., ensuring client satisfaction and reinforcing the value of adaptability in the construction industry.
