Leadership and Trust at the Heart of Upcoming Elections, Says Butcher at Castries East AGM

Must Read

Leadership and trust will define the next general election, declared Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) candidate for Vieux Fort South, Danny Butcher, as he delivered a fiery address at the Castries East Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday.

“But at the heart of this election, at the nerve center of this election, it is about leadership,” Butcher told supporters. “We all have to answer the question: who is the leader that we can trust? And based on his efforts and execution, based on his policies and practice, we all know that the leader we can trust is Philip J. Pierre.”

Butcher used the platform to highlight Prime Minister Pierre’s record, pointing to initiatives such as covering hospital bills for expectant mothers, universal early childhood education, payment of school facility fees and CXC subjects for students, the youth economy, and scholarships for young people.

“These are not just promises, they are policies that touch families in real ways,” he added. “When you look into the eyes of your children, your spouses, your parents, and your young people, you know you’re voting not just for the Labour Party, but for a leader who has proven he can be trusted.”

The Vieux Fort South hopeful also reflected on his personal political journey, recalling that his first-ever political speech was made years ago at a Castries East youth AGM. “You baptized me by fire here,” he said, thanking the constituency for shaping his growth in politics.

He went further, pledging that Vieux Fort South was “red and ready” and that the SLP would reclaim the seat in the south. “We are bringing the seat home in Vieux Fort South,” Butcher declared to thunderous applause.

Butcher also commended the Castries East parliamentary representative, describing him as “a very, very good MP” and urging supporters to hold strong as the party intensifies preparations for the polls.
