Police Marine Unit Brings Hope to Canaries During Tiller Week

Must Read

Canaries, Saint Lucia — The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Marine Unit made a powerful impression on the Canaries community during this year’s Tiller Week celebrations, engaging in a series of heartfelt initiatives on Sunday, July 27, 2025, that highlighted their commitment to service beyond the badge.

The day began with a solemn moment of fellowship, as officers joined worshippers at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Anthony for a special Mass. In a gesture of solidarity, the unit presented a donation to assist with urgent repairs to the church’s roof—an act warmly received by parishioners and seen as a meaningful investment in preserving the village’s spiritual and cultural cornerstone.

The outreach continued with a humanitarian effort spearheaded by the Police Marine Unit and the MAC Police Team, who hand-delivered nine food hampers to vulnerable families in the area. Residents expressed deep appreciation for the support, which comes at a time when many households are still recovering from economic hardship.

The day’s activities culminated in a friendly but competitive football match at the Canaries Playing Field. The Canaries Veterans faced off against a combined police team made up of Marine and MAC officers. The police team walked away with the win, but more importantly, the match strengthened bonds between law enforcement and the community, fostering goodwill and mutual respect.

The RSLPF’s presence at Tiller Week served as a reminder that policing is as much about connection and compassion as it is about enforcement. Officers left Canaries not just with a win on the field, but with hearts full from a day of unity, service, and shared purpose.
