Must Read

An unborn baby is among three people confirmed dead following a deadly shooting in Wilton’s Yard, Castries, on Thursday evening. The Saint Lucia Fire and Emergency Services received a call at approximately 8:08 p.m. and responded to find multiple victims with gunshot wounds.

Three adult males were found at the roadside with penetrating injuries. Emergency responders treated them on the scene before transporting them to hospital for advanced medical care.

Among them, one male victim was found unresponsive with no vital signs and was pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, an adult female, who had been transported via private vehicle before emergency services arrived, was later identified as 32-year-old Troya St. Martin, a resident of Wilton’s Yard. She was reportedly pregnant at the time of the shooting.

Despite efforts by medical personnel, both she and her unborn child succumbed to their injuries in the early hours of Friday morning.

The deceased man has been identified as 42-year-old Ika Jn Baptiste, also of Wilton’s Yard.

The other two injured individuals are currently listed in stable condition.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has launched an active investigation. While no official motive has been released, unconfirmed reports suggest that the shooting may have been a reprisal attack linked to a recent fatal incident involving a young man from the area.

Investigations are ongoing.
