GRANDE RIVIERE, SAINT LUCIA – A deadly shooting in the quiet community of White Rock, Grande Riviere on Monday night has left one man dead and another nursing injuries, prompting renewed concerns over gun violence in the north of the island.
According to police, officers from the Gros Islet and Rodney Bay Police Stations responded to reports of gunfire in the area around 10:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU), where medical personnel later pronounced him dead.
The deceased has been formally identified as 26-year-old Rakim Romlelle Joseph of Piat, Grande Riviere, Gros Islet.
Details surrounding the motive or circumstances of the shooting remain unclear. A second male victim also sustained injuries in the attack, though his condition was not disclosed at the time of reporting.
