A late night incident in Anse Ger, Micoud, has left a 28 year old man dead, his mother hospitalized, and one person in police custody.
The deceased has been identified as Nick Daniel of La Courville, Micoud.
Officers attached to the Micoud Police Station launched a homicide investigation at approximately 11:30 pm on Saturday, August 8, after receiving a report that Daniel’s motionless body had been discovered inside a concrete structure.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service responded to what was reported as a stabbing at approximately 12:07 am on Sunday. Emergency personnel found Daniel unconscious and unresponsive, with a puncture wound to his neck and no signs of life.
Police also reported that he had sustained wounds to his face and other parts of his body. Daniel was taken to St. Jude Hospital, where a medical practitioner formally pronounced him dead.
Fire officials said a woman, reportedly Daniel’s mother, collapsed following the incident. She was assessed and treated at the scene before being transported to a medical facility for further care.
One person is now in custody assisting police with the investigation. A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted at a later date to establish the precise cause of Daniel’s death.
