Twenty-eight-year-old Tanisha Yarde has died from injuries sustained after she was run over by an omnibus on Sunday, August 2.
Yarde succumbed to her injuries on Monday, August 10, while receiving treatment at the Owen King European Union Hospital.
According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, Yarde was reportedly involved in an altercation with a man and another woman when she fell onto the roadway along Rodney Bay and into the path of an oncoming omnibus. She was subsequently run over by the vehicle.
Emergency personnel transported Yarde to hospital by ambulance with severe injuries, including a crushed pelvis, intestinal damage, a broken shoulder and persistent internal bleeding.
Police initially indicated that the incident was being investigated as a case of dangerous harm. However, it remains unclear whether the classification of the investigation will change following Yarde’s death.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.
