The highly anticipated Saint Lucia Open Golf Tournament 2026 will tee off on April 30, bringing together over 120 international visitors and positioning the island as a growing force in sports tourism.
Speaking at the official press launch, Manager of Golf St. Lucia Inc., Roy Aaron Adams, described the tournament as “the jewel” of the organization’s annual calendar, emphasizing its significance beyond sport. “It is not simply a golf tournament, it is a statement… about who we are as a sporting nation and how high we are willing to aim,” Adams declared.
The four-day, 54-hole competition will be hosted at the Sandals Golf and Country Club, featuring a wide range of categories to accommodate professionals, amateurs, seniors, and youth players. Participants and their families are expected from across the Caribbean, the Americas, and Europe.
Adams highlighted the broader economic and branding impact of the event, noting that every visitor contributes to the local economy through accommodation, dining, transportation, and excursions.
“This tournament advances the Saint Lucia brand, positioning our island not merely as a beach destination but as a world-class sporting destination,” he said, pointing to collaboration with the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Dr. Uralise Deliaire, underscored the tournament’s role in youth development and national growth. “Sport does more than create moments of excitement — it builds character, strengthens communities and opens doors for our young people,” Deliaire said, encouraging youth participation through volunteering and engagement with the event.
She also praised the tournament’s inclusivity, noting the presence of categories spanning professionals, men, women, masters, and seniors, aligning with national goals to expand access to sport across all demographics.
From a tourism standpoint, Chris Gustave, Caribbean Sales and Marketing Manager at the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, said the tournament forms part of a broader strategy to position the island as a premier sports tourism destination. “We are building a structured, year-round calendar of events that attract visitors, drive economic activity, and strengthen Saint Lucia’s presence on the international sports landscape,” Gustave explained.
He added that the tournament coincides with the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival 2026, offering visitors a unique blend of sport and entertainment.
Organizers say the Saint Lucia Open also serves as a pipeline for developing local talent, inspiring young golfers to pursue the sport at competitive levels.
The tournament runs from April 30 to May 3.
