The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has strengthened Saint Lucia’s public sector training capacity with the donation of four smart boards to the Training Division within the Ministry of the Public Service, marking another step toward digital transformation and improved service delivery.
The contribution, made under Taiwan’s Digital Capacity Building Project, is expected to significantly enhance how training is delivered to public officers, introducing more interactive, efficient, and technology-driven learning environments across the department.

Taiwanese Ambassador to Saint Lucia, Nicole Su, highlighted the transformative role of technology in education and professional development, noting that the smart boards will elevate the quality of training sessions by making them more dynamic and accessible. She explained that the new tools will support more engaging presentations, foster collaboration, and improve communication within the classroom setting.
Director of the Training Division, Verna Khadoo, welcomed the donation as a meaningful investment in the future of the public service. She emphasized that the contribution goes beyond equipment, reflecting Taiwan’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and supporting the long-term development of Saint Lucia’s public sector.
Khadoo also reflected on the limitations of traditional training methods, explaining that while tools such as projectors and flip charts had served their purpose over the years, they often presented challenges during sessions. She noted that the introduction of smart boards represents a shift toward a more modern, efficient, and engaging training environment, enabling facilitators to deliver higher-quality sessions with greater ease.
Public Service Minister Stephenson King underscored the importance of embracing technological advancement within the public sector, stating that the government must keep pace with global developments in learning and capacity building. He explained that modernising training systems is a critical component of the broader agenda to strengthen the public service.
King added that improving the skills and capacity of public officers will directly translate into better service delivery, ensuring that citizens receive a standard of service that meets their expectations.
The donation forms part of ongoing cooperation between Saint Lucia and Taiwan, as both countries continue to collaborate on initiatives aimed at strengthening institutions, building human capacity, and supporting national development.
