Dennery Man in Critical Condition Following Motorcycle Accident Dies During Transfer Between Medical Facilities

Must Read

A 41-year-old Dennery resident has died following a motorcycle accident, after being transported between two medical facilities during a medical emergency.

Official reports from the Saint Lucia Fire Service identifies the deceased as Arniel Emmanuel, 41, of Dennery. Emergency crews assessed the patient at the scene before transporting him to the Dennery Hospital.

However, an official incident report further states that there were no physicians present at the Dennery Hospital Thursday morning. As a result, the decision was taken to transfer the already distressed patient to St. Jude Hospital for advanced medical care.

During transport to St. Jude Hospital, the patient’s condition worsened sending him into cardiac arrest. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was initiated immediately. Oxygen therapy continued and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) was applied in efforts to restore cardiac function.

Despite resuscitative efforts by emergency personnel and medical staff, Emmanuel was pronounced dead at approximately 8:57 a.m.
