Senator Lisa Jawahir was officially launched on Sunday, September 21, as the Saint Lucia Labour Party’s (SLP) candidate for Castries South East, pledging to build on her party’s record while expanding opportunities for residents.

“I stand before you deeply grateful, energized, and so full of hope. I know that the love and support I see here is a demonstration of what exists in our constituency and throughout Saint Lucia,” Jawahir told supporters gathered in Odsan.
Flanked by Prime Minister and SLP Political Leader Hon. Philip J. Pierre, Cabinet members, and endorsed candidates, Jawahir said her campaign would center on economic growth, modernization of agriculture, education, and new community services.

Outgoing MP Hon. Joachim Henry, who wrested the seat from the United Workers Party in 2021, gave a full-throated endorsement of Jawahir. He pointed to Labour’s record in social protection, healthcare, education, and support for small businesses, urging voters to protect those gains.
“I am proud to know Lisa Jawahir. She approaches her responsibilities with persistence and determination. Tonight, I proudly endorse her as the SLP candidate for Castries South East,” Henry declared.
Jawahir drew on her own upbringing in Forestiere, crediting the bursary program introduced under a Labour government in 2000 with changing her life. “That single policy changed the trajectory of my life,” she said, adding that her story reflected the resilience of many families in the constituency.
Her plans include youth empowerment through skills training, sports, and innovation; agriculture modernization with fertilizer and water tank support for farmers; expansion into agro-processing; and eco-tourism projects in Piton Flore and San de Feu. She also announced immediate work on lighting the Forestiere Playing Field, with equipment already on island.
Community priorities, she said, will include a new administrative center, fire station, police station, and a vibrant farmers’ market in Cul de Sac.
Paying tribute to past representatives Heraldine Rock, Menissa Rambally, and Joachim Henry, Jawahir framed Castries South East as “the gateway to the north and south” and a critical driver of national development.
Rejecting “distractions and noise,” she urged supporters to remain united.
“When the prime minister rings that bell, and the election is called, you will go to the polls and you will vote for continuity. Vote for your future. Vote for pride. Vote for progress. Vote for possibility. Vote for me, Lisa Jawahir, your next Parliamentary Representative for Castries South East.”
