CASTRIES, SAINT LUCIA — In a landmark move toward a greener future, Energyze Holdings Inc. (EHI) and the Castries Constituencies Council (CCC) have signed a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at transitioning Castries into a sustainable, energy-efficient city.

The MOU, signed on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, marks the first agreement of its kind between Energyze and a local government authority in Saint Lucia. It aligns with three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Minister for Local Government expressed his strong support for the initiative, stating, “This is an initiative that is very close to my heart. Whatever it is we can do to make the city sustainable goes down well with me. I’m hoping we reap benefits with that MOU and that it can be replicated throughout the length and breadth of Saint Lucia.”
Mayor of Castries, Her Worship Geraldine Lendor-Gabriel, noted that the agreement signals the CCC’s readiness to lead in integrating sustainable development into municipal operations. “We are perhaps one of the first institutions in this country to sign an agreement with Energyze. Saint Lucia has long discussed sustainable development, and we are prepared to put it into practice,” she said.
Energyze Holdings Inc., an energy services company focused on cutting-edge solutions, sees the partnership as pivotal to Saint Lucia’s energy future. General Manager David Leonce highlighted the company’s mission to help public and private entities manage energy more efficiently. “There are great opportunities for us to collaborate, really driving reduction in greenhouse gas emissions for the city, reducing energy usage and operating costs. We’re here to provide technical support and innovative technology to help the CCC meet its sustainability goals.”
Kurt Inglis, Acting Chief Energy and Public Utilities Officer, praised the agreement as a model for replication across the island. “The city of Castries has taken a bold step through this MOU. This should be looked at as a framework for other stakeholders in Saint Lucia to pursue energy efficiency and sustainability for the benefit of their customers and the wider public.”
