Saint Lucian Albert Daniels Receives Knighthood from Norway’s King

Must Read

Saint Lucian Albert Henry Daniels has received royal recognition for his service to Norway, earning appointment as a Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit.

King Harald V appointed Daniels, Norway’s Honorary Consul in Saint Lucia, in recognition of his outstanding service to the country.

The honour was presented during a recently concluded gathering of Norway’s honorary consuls to the Caribbean in the Dominican Republic.

The meeting brought together Norway’s Ambassador to the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, officials from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and honorary consuls from across the region.

As honorary consul, Daniels assists Norwegian citizens and supports diplomatic and commercial relations between Norway and Saint Lucia. His responsibilities also include facilitating consular matters and relevant documentation.

Established by King Olav V in 1985, the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit recognises outstanding service to Norway and humanity by foreign and Norwegian nationals.

The appointment formally recognises Daniels’ contribution to Norway through his consular service, placing a Saint Lucian representative among the recipients of the Norwegian royal honour.

A recipient of a Norwegian knighthood is known as a Knight, or Ridder in Norwegian. Daniels may therefore be described as Albert Henry Daniels, Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit. The honour does not confer the British-style title “Sir.”
