Team Saint Lucia produced an impressive showing at the 2026 Windfield Brathwaite Caribbean Schoolboys & Girls Boxing Championships in Guyana over the weekend, securing an outstanding second-place finish among the five competing nations.
The young Saint Lucian team returned home with an impressive haul of four medals — two gold and two silver, capping a strong campaign against some of the region’s best young boxers.
Leading the charge was Nacham Alex, who once again demonstrated why he is regarded as one of the Caribbean’s most dominant young boxers. Alex continued his remarkable unbeaten run with a commanding performance against Guyana’s Ken Harvey.
Alex immediately established his authority in the contest, scoring an eight-count in the opening round before maintaining control and composure throughout the remainder of the bout. He was subsequently awarded a unanimous decision victory, further extending his unbeaten record and reinforcing his growing reputation on the regional boxing circuit.
Another standout performance came from 75kg boxer Daniel Martin, who secured Saint Lucia’s second gold medal with a convincing victory over Guyana’s Oasis Prince.
Martin boxed with confidence and precision from the opening bell, displaying sharp combinations, excellent movement and strong ring control. He dominated his opponent throughout the contest to secure a well-deserved victory and gold medal for Saint Lucia. Orlando Monrose and Nervon Mederick both won silvery, adding to Saint Lucia’s medal tally.
The second-place finish represents another positive milestone for Saint Lucian boxing and reflects the continued development of the country’s junior boxing programme.
