A routine Sunday evening turned tragic along the Vieux Fort Micoud Highway after a multi-vehicle collision claimed the life of a young man and left others nursing injuries.
Officers attached to the Department of Road Safety and the Vieux Fort Police Station responded to reports of a serious accident around 6:55 p.m. on April 26, 2026. Upon arrival, preliminary investigations revealed that two vehicles travelling in opposite directions collided with a third vehicle that had been parked along the roadside, creating a devastating chain reaction.
Emergency responders rushed the injured occupants from one of the vehicles to St. Jude Hospital, where they received urgent medical attention. However, the situation took a fatal turn when medical personnel later confirmed that 34-year-old Dave Dalsou of Morne Cayenne, Vieux Fort, succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety along one of the island’s busiest corridors, with authorities urging motorists to remain vigilant. The Department of Road Safety and Traffic Investigations, part of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, is appealing to drivers to exercise caution and strictly adhere to traffic laws to prevent further tragedies.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing.
