The Office of the Governor General has confirmed that His Excellency Sir Cyril E. M. Charles has traveled to Martinique to receive medical attention, prompting the temporary appointment of a deputy to ensure the continuity of official duties.
In a statement issued today, the Office advised that Mr. Felix Finisterre has been appointed to act on behalf of the Governor General in accordance with Section 22(1)(c) of the Constitution of Saint Lucia. He will carry out specified functions of the Office during His Excellency’s absence.
Officials emphasized that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to maintain the smooth execution of responsibilities and the uninterrupted conduct of official business.
Sir Cyril is accompanied by his wife, Lady Anicia Charles, during the trip.
The Office also conveyed a request from the Governor General and his family for prayers and well wishes from the public as he undergoes medical care.
