One person is currently in police custody assisting with investigations into a stabbing incident in Pierrot, Vieux Fort, which left an adult male unresponsive with critical injuries on Monday night.
Officers of the Saint Lucia Fire Service were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:44 p.m., following reports of the incident. Upon arrival, they discovered the male lying on his back at his residence, unresponsive and without vital signs.
Emergency personnel observed a penetrating wound to the left side of his chest, along with multiple injuries about the body, suggesting a violent encounter.
Due to the severity of his condition, first responders immediately initiated life-saving interventions at the scene before transporting him to a medical facility for advanced care. He was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have confirmed that a post mortem examination is scheduled for a later date as part of ongoing investigations. The deceased has been identified as Jason Francis.
Police are urging anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department in Vieux Fort at 456-3926. The investigation remains active as law enforcement works to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
