Must Read

The Saint Lucia Fire Service has confirmed that it received a call for assistance at approximately 2:25 p.m. Thursday regarding a report of respiratory distress at the KFC Choc outlet.

According to the Fire Service, emergency crews responded promptly to the report. However, upon arrival at the location, officers found no signs of anyone in medical distress and no individual requiring emergency treatment.

Reports reaching Saint Lucia Daily Post had suggested that a gas or chemical leak at the fast-food outlet may have caused staff and customers to feel unwell. When contacted for clarification, Otis Effs, a senior manager with the company, denied that any gas or chemical leak had occurred.

Effs explained that ongoing work in the ceiling area of the restaurant caused discomfort for staff and patrons, prompting management to close the outlet as a precautionary measure.

He indicated that the decision to close was taken in the interest of safety and comfort, and not due to any confirmed hazardous substance or emergency situation.

The Saint Lucia Fire Service has not reported any injuries or hazardous conditions at the outlet, and no further emergency action was required.
